"If not for my childhood, marital, and prior career experiences, I would not be the person I am today."

Many therapists learn about trauma from textbooks. My education began before I was born. I share my story not for pity, but to offer you something far more valuable: understanding. When you sit across from me, you are sitting with someone who has walked the path of recovery and knows that healing is possible.

My Journey

My story began in secrecy. My mother was raised in a strict home and suffered abuse early on. At 14, she was impregnated by my biological father—a situation that, in our 1960s religious community, was viewed as a disgrace. To protect the family reputation, my birth was concealed. Family history tells us I was brought home from the hospital in a Safeway grocery bag so the neighbors wouldn't know I existed.

My first three years were a paradox. I lived with foster parents who treated me like a prince, even though I slept in a makeshift bassinet drawer. But at age three, I was returned to my biological mother. The gloom that settled over my foster home that day was a premonition. From that moment, my life became a cycle of verbal, emotional, and physical abuse.

For 13 years, I witnessed a "carousel" of men enter our lives—predatory figures who exploited my mother's vulnerability. I saw the devastation of addiction and domestic violence firsthand. At 15, I ran away to save myself.

But those years were an education.

I learned how trauma cycles repeat, how co-dependency takes root, and how hard it is to break free without support. Today, I turn that pain into purpose. I help you break the cycle, heal the wounds of the past, and reclaim your future.
